Sushma is a writer/director based in New York City who often works with children and untrained performers. Born and raised in India, Sushma moved to the US in 2004. She started a production company in Austin, TX, making commercials and commissioned documentaries for several years before switching to narrative fiction.
As a writer/director Sush has been part of many labs, fellowships and festivals including “Pitch NY 2017” organized by NBCUniversal and the Governor’s Office of Motion Picture and Television, IFP New York (Pitch Panel), NFDC Development Lab, India. Her recent short film "Foren" screened at Palm Springs ShortFest 2017 among other festivals.
Sush is a participant of the International Co-Production Atélier at La Fémis in Paris and a finalist of Ryan Murphy's Half Directing Fellowship in 2018.
Sush is currently developing her first feature film "SALT" while completing her MFA in Screenwriting & Directing at Columbia University.
